A Quinceañera Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption:
While a Quinceañera is not a Sacrament, the Cathedral understands the importance of this liturgical celebration. Our goal is to work with the young lady and her parents to properly prepare for her Quinceañera Mass in the Catholic Church.
A Quinceañera applicant must be a fully initiated Catholic having received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. If the Quinceañera applicant has not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation, she can still prepare for a Quinceañera Mass as long as she is currently registered in a Religious Education program and expected to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation no later than three (3) months after the Quinceañera Mass date.
A young lady not yet a fully initiated Catholic and is celebrating her fifteenth birthday is welcomed to receive a special blessing during a regularly scheduled Mass. The parent(s) should schedule a Mass Intention of Thanksgiving on behalf of their daughter in advance to her birthdate.
Preparing for a Quinceañera Mass:
Preparation for a Quinceañera Mass takes a minimum of six (6) months. It is recommended that you review the Quinceañera Responsibilities and Requirements for a complete understanding of the process and expectations. Please complete and submit the Quinceañera Application along with all required documentation to begin the Quinceañera preparations.
